Zohran Mamdani Pledges a 'Fresh Chapter' for New York City in First Speech
In a first day in office, Zohran Mamdani committed to “reinvent” New York City, promising “a different age” and an audacious commencement to his term.
A Groundbreaking Leader
The new figure, who was a virtually unknown state assemblyman, has become the city's first mayor born in Africa. He also made history by being the first to be sworn in using the Islamic holy text.
